5 Reasons Why You Must Book Your Solo Vacation
Updated: Mar 9
As a parent of a child with autism, you probably do not find yourself with too much “me time”. Since you love your child more than anything else in this world, this most likely doesn’t bother you. However, did you know it is important to practice self-care and even take a short vacation? When you take care of yourself and give yourself a little downtime, you are making it possible to feel more energetic as you get through your action-packed days.
Trust me, this is a concept I am just learning myself, so don’t feel as if you are far behind right now. I finally took a weekend off from caring for my family and spent that weekend at a hotel. I had my husband’s full support and knew he had everything under control back home! I learned a lot during my weekend away and have determined I must do them more often than once in a lifetime.
5 Reasons Why You Must Book Your Solo Vacation
Time Off to Relax
Time off is rare in a mom’s life. You are usually running from appointment to appointment or school or afternoon activities. And weekends can be filled with playdates and so much more. A little time off is exactly what you need to feel refreshed and ready to get back to it all when you return home. The best part is you can actually relax when you are on your mom vacation. Imagine sitting down and not moving for a whole half hour…. Yes, it is possible!
Do Things You Love
As a mom, you most likely do things your family loves to do. This means you probably don’t watch the movies you want to see or do the activities you love. When you take a solo vacation, you can spend time at the spa, go for a hike at your own pace, and even read a book from start to finish down by the pool.
Step Out of Your Comfort Zone
You may not think you have a comfort zone, because you spend so much time advocating for your kids. However, when it becomes all about you, it is easy to see what you feel comfortable doing and what you don’t feel comfortable doing. These vacations are the perfect time to step out of your comfort zone and learn more about yourself.
Gain a New Perspective on Life
You have probably been so focused on certain areas of life; you have ignored all the others. Taking a solo vacation is one of the best ways to gain a new perspective on life. You may see things differently once you have had the chance to think without constantly being interrupted.
Check Things Off Your To-Do List
Yes, the goal of a vacation is to get away from it all, but that doesn’t mean you can’t check a few things off your to-do list. If you are a business owner and need to create something, take the time on vacation! Want to read the latest bestseller? Do it! Want to call your best friend and talk for hours? Make that call! There is no end to what you can accomplish on your to-do list when you are on vacation without your family.
As I mentioned above, I am new to this solo vacation stuff. But that isn’t stopping me from embracing it more in the future! Currently, I am planning a 4-day retreat for moms in Sedona, AZ. I can’t give away too many of the surprises quite yet, but it will include a welcome dinner and a tour of the area in a pink Jeep. Did I pique your interest? I hope so! I can’t wait to share all the goodies with you! Let use my list 5 Reasons Why You Must Book Your Solo Vacation as a starting point!
